Review Of Samsung-Window’s Phone: Samsung I8350 Omnia W

January 12, 2012

The world of Smartphones offers an exciting range of handsets to choose from. One of the latest handset that created quite a buzz among the masses is the Samsung I8350 Omnia W. The Omnia W is a joint venture launched by Samsung and Microsoft. Let us quickly glance through the unique features of this Samsung-Windows Smartphone.

Samsung Omnia W has an upgraded processor and offers double data speed. The display technology and the camera sensor are similar to its predecessor, Samsung Omnia 7. In fact, it is very much similar to its predecessor and very few features set it apart from Samsung Omnia 7. Most of the critics describe Samsung Omnia W as a lighter version of its predecessor. It weighs 115.3 grams as compared to Omnia 7’s 140 grams. Omnia W is a very compact phone which maintains a neutral professional look. The external finish of the phone is a mix of plastic and metal.

Samsung Omnia W has a display screen of 3.7”. The smaller screen caters a higher pixel density – 252 pixels per inch. It has a Super AMOLED touch screen with more brightness, colors and clarity. The display is enhanced by ambient light sensors, an accelerometer to rotate the screen and a gyro sensor. The back of the handset features a 5MP camera lens with a single LED flash. The Omnia W also has a front camera and a preloaded app which allows video calling.

Omnia W has an in-built storage capacity of 8GB and it does not allow memory expansion. It has no memory card slot but 8GB memory is more than sufficient even for heavy users.

The Samsung Omnia W has a quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support and dual-band 3G with HSPA. It allows computer syncing with the Zune computer application. Syncing files with Zune can be done using Wi-Fi or a USB cable. Bluetooth connectivity on this handset is limited. One of the key selling points of this Samsung-Windows device is full-featured Office. The Operating System of this Smartphone is integrated with document viewing and editing.

Overall, Samsung Omnia W is an all-rounder phone. Powered by a 1.4GHz Snapdragon and a Super AMOLED screen, Samsung Omnia W offers tough competition to competitors. This midrange phone offers several reasons to a buyer for preferring it over other contemporary handsets.
